Authentic Ethiopian eating in Cape Town

Looking for something slightly different?

It’s not often one comes across Ethiopian cuisine, and what does that entail anyway?

Addis in Cape is the new three-level Ethiopian restaurant in the heart of Cape Town.

The name ‘Addis’ seems to spring from the Ethiopian capital city Addis Ababa.

The restaurant, owned by Senait Mekonnen, is all out authentic Ethiopian. From the food, to the décor, to the damots (low chairs) and the mesobs (woven table surfaces).

Coffee is big here as well as exciting spices, all the way from Ethiopia.

The menu includes shiro wot – veggies and chickpeas – and doro wot – chicken marinated in lime juice and slowly cooked at a low temperature.

Don’t miss Addis in Cape for great African food.
