Boschendal Style Award nominee: The Grand Café and Beach

Boho-chic meets colonial opulence at The Grand Café and Beach in Granger Bay.

The mood: Think European gentry, shipwrecked on a tropical island. Sit outside on the sand and sip cocktails, or find a spot inside the corrugated iron warehouse, decked out with chandeliers and swish table linen.

The designer: Proprietor, Suzette Main, designed the eclectic space herself, to create an “all-inclusive, majestic, bare decadence.” She juxtaposes magnificent features with humble elements to achieve this stylish look.

The details: The eclectic furniture, crockery and cutlery have been collected from many different locations locally and internationally, while the artworks come from a selection of local artists, including Beezy Bailey and Daryl Nero.

The food: A chic, bistro-style menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner features old and new classics. It’s a new-world fusion of beach café cuisine.

Does the Grand Café and Beach have what it takes to win the Boschendal Style Award at the Eat Out DStv Food Network Restaurant Awards?
