Breakfast spots for Argus supporters

A rushing sea of bodies, burning rubber and screaming muscles, The Argus is a fantastic spectacle. But whether you’re cheerleading for a friend, or supporting the whole sea of riders, you’re sure to get peckish after a couple of hours of cheering. Don’t find yourself starving and cut-off from your breakfast by road closures; here is our list of great breakfast spots for spectators.

Rhodes Memorial Restaurant will be open for breakfast and superb teas from 9am – they’re accessible via Princess Anne Avenue, and are just a little above the action of race day down on the M3.

Further along the route, make a detour to Chart Farm, in Klaassens Road and have tea and breakfast amongst the roses from 9am.

Avoid road closures, and take a train down to Kalk Bay, where you’ll be rewarded with perfect buttery croissants and terrific full English breakfasts at Olympia Café. They’ll be open from 7 am on race day.

Many of the Simonstown restaurants will be somewhat cut-off, but Café Pescado will be open for breakfast from 8:30 am.

In Noordhoek, there is usually a supporters’ stronghold in the farm village. Try Café Roux for breakfast from 7am.

If you’re in Camps Bay, Café Sofia will be open from 7am for starving cheer-leaders.

In Sea Point, La Vie Café will provide sustenance from 6:30 am.

In Greenpoint, Miss K Food Café will calm rumbling tummies from 8am, while 1800 will be open for breakfast from 6:30 am.

Before you head out, check out the race route and road closures or park in town and catch the free MyCiTi shuttle bus to Greenpoint.
