Whether you’re strapped for cash, a huge fan of good deals, or a juicy hamburger, here’s where you can get your hands on some hot buns for a bargain in Cape Town and the Winelands.

National

Tiger’s Milk (Cape Town) ?

Specialising in “dude food, made good”, every branch celebrates Monday with a 2-for-1 special that runs all day. For R98, you get two cheese or mushroom burgers with a side serving of chips, salad or onion rings, for the price of one. You can substitute your beef patty for a vegetarian or chicken option.

Spur (Nationwide)

Every family’s favourite steakhouse is keeping Mondays classic with its Classic R55 Burger special. Choose a single original Spur beef (160g), chicken, rib or soya burger, served with onion rings and chips for R55 or add a sauce for an extra R9,90. Gourmet toppings are available for R15,90.

Dros (Nationwide)

The vibey family restaurant, with a nod to the Cape’s winelands, runs a Monday Madness deal comprising a Dros 160g beef burger with chips for only R39,95.

Cape Town Fish Market (Cape Town, Bloemfontein, Rustenburg, Umhlanga, East London)

Burgers at a seafood restaurant? Yes! Burgers at a seafood restaurant, especially on Mondays when a 200g burger is just R55 or a double beef burger is R95.

Turn ‘n Tender (Johannesburg, Pretoria, Nelspruit, Somerset West) ?

This family-owned restaurant chain wants to make your Sunday legendary. What better way than with a burger special? From 4pm every Sunday you can choose between a Standard Classic, Cheese, Mushroom or Pepper 200g pure ground beef burger, with a side of your choice, for R65.

Cape Town

Arcade Café (CBD)

Bree street’s new addition, which describes itself as “the hip new resto-bar”, will make your Wednesday more fun and affordable with its two-for-one burgers, available all day.

Beerhouse Long Street (CBD)

Chase away the Monday blues with a burger and 330ml beer for just R85 at the home of one of the biggest varieties of beer on offer in Africa.

Café Extrablatt (Green Point)

Mid-week is Wacky Wednesday at Café Extrablatt. Why? Because it’s the day you can buy one hamburger and get one free. The special is valid from 17:00 and subject to each burger eater purchasing a drink to wash it down.

Cocoa Cha Chi (Observatory)

Thursdays are when you want to visit this little gem as beef burgers and chips are on special for R55.

Cocoa Oola (Tamboerskloof)

A hangout for everyone from hipsters and hippies to tourists and locals, this Kloof street eatery runs a special on its beef burgers, which comes with chips for R55, every Wednesday from 5pm.

Cocoa Wah Wah (Rondebosch)

Like its sister outlets, Cocoa Wah Wah runs a weekly R55 beef burger special. But here, the deal is available on a Tuesday.

Da Vinci’s on 2nd (Claremont)

Over in the Southern Suburbs, Da Vinci’s run a Wednesday burger special, where all burgers are just R70. You can choose between beef, chicken, ostrich or vegetarian patties.

Da Vinci’s on Kloof (Gardens)

Scroll through the list of options available on the R50 lunch special menu and you’ll quickly spot Burger and Chips. The special is available from 11.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Saturday.

Devil’s Peak Taproom (Salt River) ? 

Not only does it offer one of the best mountain views, the Taproom also offers two burger specials during the week. Every Monday, all burgers are half price while on Tuesday you can get a Cheeseburger and 340ml Devil’s Peak Lager for R75.

Jack Black Brewery (Diep River)

Beer and burgers … a match made in heaven, particularly when the burgers come in twos for the price of one. Every Wednesday from midday, you get more than (exactly double) what you pay for at the brewery’s taproom.

Mantra Café (Camps Bay)

Brave the cold weather while it lasts to take advantage of Mantra’s Burgers by the Bay special running during winter. For R100, you can tuck into a 100% beef burger and chips accompanied by a draught beer or wine.

Mondiall Burger Bar (V&A Waterfront) ?

Mondiall’s 2-4-1 winter special is valid until the end of September. From Monday to Friday, between 12noon and 2pm, you can buy one burger and get one free. Sadly, the Double Double Burger is excluded from this offer.

Saddles (Bellville, Durbanville)

Value for money is a priority for the legendary steak ranch, so it’s no surprise that Saddles is still running its Famous Monday Burger Special, which sees selected burgers on offer for half price.

Slug & Lettuce (Durbanville, Century City)

Wednesdays get a little wild at these outlets as they offer two-for-one “slug burgers” all day. Fortunately, these are not the “garden variety” and feature 200g of the best grain-fed South African beef (which can be substituted for chicken), flame-grilled, basted and served on a lightly toasted bun.

Sotano (Mouille Point & CBD)

What better reason could there be to get out on hump day than a 2-for-1 Lamb Burger special. The deal is on offer every Wednesday from 17:00 at both branches, but at the Bree street outlet you can bite into your burger while enjoying some reggae beats provided by The Rivertones.

Tony’s Roma (Table View)

Over on the West Coast, you’ll find this hidden gem where, on a Monday, a cheeseburger and chips will set you back just R49 or you can double up with two cheeseburgers and chips for R95.

The Village Idiot (CBD) ? 

The Long Street hot spot has renamed Tuesday to Two’s Day and with good reason! It offers two Pulled Pork burgers, topped with homemade coleslaw, and a jug (you read that right) of standard lager or pilsener for R130. And, to tempt Mother Nature, The Village Idiot also runs a Rainy Days special. For R90 you can pull in to escape the rain and enjoy a Boerie or Veggie burger with a glass of house wine or Budweiser. This deal is also available on First Thursdays.

Van Hunks (Gardens)

Burgers are the order of the day for bargain hunters thrice weekly at Van Hunks. On Sundays, you can get two Standard Burgers (chicken, beef or vegetable) with onion rings and chips for R100 all day, while the Monday Blues special kicks off the week with the same deal available from 5pm. Wednesdays see the Beer & Burger special apply from 5pm. You’ll get a Regular chicken, beef or vegetable burger and Castle Lite 500ml draught for R80.

Winelands

Bossa (Stellenbosch) ?

This Stellies eatery invites you to unwind after a hard day – something that is always necessary on a Monday. The good news is every Monday you can get any burger, served with fries and onion rings for R59. The bad news? This special excludes the Baconator Devastator.
