Chill out at the aquarium

Shoreline Café at the Two Oceans Aquarium at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town has become a popular contemporary space for families to relax, have fun and catch a bite to eat.

The café, situated adjacent to the aquarium, not only has gorgeous views of the mountain and harbour but also a fun, extensive play space for kids.

The décor is ‘relaxed beach house’ and the theme a transporting fusion of shorelines and oceanic worlds.

The menu is family-oriented with a great selection for kids (of course fish fingers feature!) and affordable light meals (breakfasts, sandwiches, pastas, quiches, fish and chips) for adults, conceptualised with the help of well-known chef, Peter Goffe-Wood.

Shoreline only serves SASSI-friendly (Southern African Sustainable Seafood Initiative) fish dishes and operates to a general eco-aware philosophy.

Web browser, Rene Forbes: Since our baby turned 6 months, I’ve been on the look out for a special breakfast – lunch – anytime place that will receive the whole family (and the added chaos) with open arms. I found that place at the recently opened Shoreline Café at the aquarium. Open and spacious with relaxing natural stone décor and a view of Table Mountain, the Shoreline Café is unpretentiously family-friendly. Kids can play in the special play-area with a member of staff always on duty to watch them while you enjoy your scrumptious gourmet omelette or yummy sandwich in peace. High-chairs are available for the little ones and the kiddies’ menu features a good selection.
