Where to enjoy breakfast with a view in Durban

If you’re spending the festive season in Durban, be sure to tuck into a delicious breakfast while admiring a gorgeous view this holiday.

Bellezar (Umhlanga)

Bellezar is the perfect spot to enjoy a hearty breakfast while watching the waves crash over the sand. Situated on the Umhlanga Promenade, you can also enjoy a lovely stroll along the beach afterwards to work off that bacon and eggs. They have a wide variety of options on the menu, from a healthy bowl of yoghurt with granola and seasonal fruit to a more indulgent eggs Benedict. 

Surf Riders Café (South Beach)

This popular spot is the perfect place to grab breakfast after a surf or swim in the sea.  Located on the promenade at Addington Beach, it provides the perfect view of the sea while you refuel with one of their delicious breakfast options. Choose the farmhouse wrap with scrambled eggs, mushrooms, honey-glazed bacon and Gouda cheese or go for the avocado Benedict with salmon and avo on a bun with two poached eggs and hollandaise sauce.

Foam (Umdloti)

This laidback café situated in Umdloti is the perfect place to grab breakfast with a view of the beach. Located directly on the Umdloti Promenade, it’s a great spot to grab a bite to eat after soaking up some sun on the beach. They have a variety of sweet and savoury French toast options as well as a breakfast wrap and a healthy oat bowl among others.

Circus Circus Beach Café (Snell Parade)

This well-known franchise has one of their restaurants situated at the perfect location – directly on the Durban Promenade with glorious views of the sea.  You can sit outside and watch the surfers as you sip on your morning cup of coffee. They open at 6am, which means you can get your fix before heading to work. Choose from a wide variety of options such as their peanut butter oats, a classic omelette or a hearty breakfast of eggs and bacon.

The Ocean Terrace at the Oyster Box Hotel (Umhlanga)

For a special occasion, why not spoil yourself and enjoy a sophisticated brunch at The Oyster Box Hotel? The Ocean Terrace restaurant is open to the public to enjoy a delicious breakfast while seated on the terrace, overlooking the pool and the Umhlanga Promenade. Breakfast is available from 7am to 10:30am and you can indulge in their breakfast buffet or choose from options such as the eggs Florentine, the vegan omelette or the chicken liver stroganoff.

Danté (Umhlanga)

If you’re looking for a more bougie brunch spot over the weekend, Danté is the perfect place. Open from 9am to 12am on Saturdays and Sundays for brunch, they offer mimosas that you can enjoy while tucking into one of their delicious breakfast options on the menu, as well as soaking in gorgeous views of the Umhlanga Promenade. Choose their truffle oil smashed avo on rye with chilli flakes, their savoury or sweet French toast, or a classic eggs Benedict.

California Dreaming (South Beach)

This is the best place to go for a boozy brunch while watching the waves. Enjoy a delicious breakfast burger with a fresh burger bun topped with scrambled eggs, lamb sausage and cheddar cheese served with hand-cut fries or try the Sunrise Wrap with scrambled eggs, lamb sausage, tomato salsa and cheddar cheese served with fries.

Bike and Bean (Snell Parade)

For an affordable and satisfying laidback breakfast, Bike and Bean is your go-to spot.  Park your car and head off for a run on the promenade and then tuck into some of their delicious breakfast options to refuel while sipping on their famous coffee.
