El Burro (Green Point)

Located in the heart of Cape Town, This eatery brings you only the best authentic and flavourful Mexican cuisine inspired by travels across Mexico. They offer a variety of all-time favorites, such as their mouthwatering tacos offered in a taco box with all the ingredients you will need (guacamole, salsa, corn tortillas, sour cream, onions, refried beans, and your choice of meat, which costs R310 for two, and on request they offer vegan options. They also have a burrito box for 2 (R355) that includes your choice of filling ( free range grilled chicken, chilorio pork, hake goujons and spicy beans) and incredibly delicious ingredients carefully packed in foil containers and plastic containers ensuring that your food stays warm and fresh.

Tacos Locos (Salt River)

Well-known Mexican spot in Cape Town, Tacos Locos offers Mexican-style street food that combines local flavours with the best of Mexican street food and aims to deliver an urban version of a traditional meal. There are three types of taco shells to choose from: hard corn, soft corn, or soft flour served in two per portion from R90 to R105. Their amazing burritos are served in a cumin-spiced rice wrapped in a flour tortilla, try their flavourful full-house burrito which includes caramelized onion, slow cooked beef brisket, two fried eggs and cheese for R120. Their meals are packed nicely in a cupboard (burger box) and foil container, with all the other ingredients placed in a plastic container to keep your food safe from spills.

The Fat Cactus (Gardens)

If you’re a true Capetonian then you most definitely heard about The Fat Cactus, they serve authentic Mexican food with their tacos being one of the best items on the menu. Their food truck tacos come in a variety of fillings to choose from such as grilled chicken (R135), country fried chicken (R135), BBQ pulled pork (R145) and greek lamb (R185). They also have vegan taco options on offer (R125), Their tacos are carefully placed in a cardboard box container and extra ingredients are placed in a plastic container to secure all the goodness inside. Operating daily from 12 noon to 11 pm.

Pancho’s (Observatory)

This Mexican spot is located in the lower main road of Observatory, offering a full menu of traditional Mexican food. Enjoy their crispy folded tacos with a filling of your choice for R 130 (Mexican portion) and R155 (DIY portion). Or their famous super burrito, filled with cheese, beef, chicken, rice and beans for R170. All these delicious meals are packed in cardboard containers with some ingredients in the plastic containers and are ready to be taken away.

Surrounded by the beautiful views of Durbanville sits Peppa Jack’s, serving incredibly tasty food and thirst quenching drinks. Try their perfectly crispy tacos filled with mouthwatering flavours of ingredients and a protein of your choice from R108, or their amazing burritos from R108. If you can’t dine-in then enjoy these delicious meals in the comfort of your home, securely contained in a styrofoam box.
