Hot Spot Review: La Petite Tarte

“Welcome to our little corner of Paris” are the words you will find at the end of the menu. They couldn’t be closer to the truth.

It’s as if Scotty beamed this spot up straight out of the French city and popped it down in Cape Town.

I’m still convinced the burly man in the corner was Gérard Depardieu. Occupying a space on the outer shell of the old Cape Quarter, Le Petite Tarte has been filling up its fans on French fare for some time now – eight years actually.

Owners, Len and Johan, took over the reigns in August and have since been hard at work with their magic. The interior is more charming than having an attractive Parisian whisper in your ear and the menu boasts delights that would make even Sébastien Chabal weak at the knees.
