How’s Your Oni (Gardens)

How’s Your Oni is the ideal place for a delectable Japanese eating experience, The restaurant recently opened in February and is located in Cape Town’s lively neighborhood of Gardens. It is the perfect location for either a short lunch break or a leisurely catch-up with pals. With its warm lighting and traditional Japanese decor, the dining area has a nice and welcoming atmosphere that will make you feel right at home. A wide selection of delectable Japanese foods are offered on the broad menu, with an emphasis on onigiri (R50 to R110). Other Japanese delicacies are also available, including Tempura (R80 to R150), a crispy and golden-fried seafood and vegetable treat, and Takoyaki (R90 to R100), a savory octopus-filled snack.

Salon Pot Luck (Woodstock)

At the Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock, Salon Pot Luck, the innovative new restaurant and cocktail lounge from celebrated chef Luke Dale Roberts, has opened its doors to Cape Town. For R1100 per person, the Journey menu offers a varied selection of meals with flavors from around the world, all of which are exquisitely presented. The area itself is classy and stylish, making it ideal for a date or gathering up with friends.

The Red Room (Cape Town,City Centre)

Liam Tomlin’s newest restaurant, Pan-Asian cocktail bar and restaurant, opened its doors at The Mount Nelson on 14 April 2023. The Red Room provides an authentic restaurant and bar experience. Settle into a luxurious dining room corner to enjoy a four-course set menu to share for R850 per person. They also serve dim sum (prawn dumpling, spinach dumpling, or crisp fried tofu) and Japanese cheese cake (R110) for dessert. Open Monday to Saturday from 6pm to 9pm.

Club Kloof (Kloof street)

Club Kloof, located in the heart of Cape Town in Kloof street, offers up Italian-ish food and drinks in a stylish setting. It is the combination of Club Kloof’s daring and refined colors that create spaces that are both lively and timeless at the same time. Chef Shayne Shutte’s small-plate sharing approach focuses on simple yet superb ingredients. At Club Kloof, you can get small pizzette – side-plate-sized puffy pizzas with stunningly exquisite toppings – mortadella with mozzarella and green-olive butter; anchovy, smoky tomato and capers; garlic confit with fresh tomato and mozzarella (R65 to R125).
