New restaurant openings in Pretoria

Pasta Barra (Brooklyn)

This restaurant has an excellent location on Florence Robeiro Drive. The owners have created a smooth flow into the parking and an easy exit onto a quieter side street. Pasta Barra creates a modern, yet cosy setting for fine dinning with popular Mediterranean flavours. The owner and chef is of the opinion that “life is too short for mediocre food”. Join them from Tuesday to Sunday, between 12noon to 9pm (till 10pm on Friday and Saturday) and until 3pm on Sunday afternoons. A main Pasta costs between R110 to R280 or order a main from the grill at between R180-00 for the tender chicken breast or up to R420 for the deluxe King Prawns.

Smoke (Hazelwood)

An exciting new space has taken shape in Hazelwood over the last couple of months. Artistic murals and multiple fireplaces set the scene for this exciting new addition to Pretoria’s restaurant scene. Smoke seeks to set the tone for “South African Excellence” in fine dinning with an array of exciting menu items that are being fine tuned for their imminent opening. The restaurant incorporates the finest, locally sourced ingredients into a broadly Mediterranean cuisine style. This venue is a proud product of the Capital City. Visit them between 10:00am to 11:30pm daily for a flavour and service experience of note.

Railways Café (Cullinan)

One of the Capital’s foremost live entertainment venues have made a bold move by starting a cullinan branch. This restaurant is know for putting an excitingly fresh twist on pub and Café fare. The look of the venue is fittingly Bohemian. Every weekend from Friday to Sunday, 8am to 9pm, you can enjoy amazingly fresh food with occasional guest chefs at Railway’s in Cullinan. Keep an eye on Railway’s calendar for exciting acts, guest chef specials and events.

Olu’s Unique Restaurant (Rietfontein)

Open 8am to 8pm (Friday and Saturday till 10pm). Residents of the area have welcomed this newcomer that is open from breakfast to dinner. Olu’s is easy going with a relaxed cafe style menu. Try their popular chicken or fish snack basket meals (R110 – R130) or their range of toasted sandwiches or tramazini’s (R70 to R120) and if you would like to experience some of the African

specialities like Jolof or Fried Rice (R130 or R160) add fresh Talapia fish from the grill to your rice dish (R190 or R210). Olu’s is also family friendly with a Kid’s menu.

Experience the fusion of the best that the French and Japanese cultures and cuisines offers. The restaurant is open for dinner only. They are also closed on Sundays and Mondays. Booking is essential. Join the team at Alēia for a fine dinning experience during the week from Tuesday to Thursdays (6.30pm to 10.30pm) or on Friday and Saturday (6.30pm to 11.30pm). The menu changes regularly and can be enjoyed with or without the recommended wine pairings.
