Pop-up tapas and picnic restaurant opens at Uitkyk Wine Estate

Good news, wine and food lovers: your wine tastings at Uitkyk Wine Estate just got a whole lot tastier. The Stellenbosch wine farm is now launching Pikant, a pop-up restaurant on the farm, which will be located in and around the estate’s tasting room. Pikant will be making Uitkyk its home from 15 October 2016 to 29 January 2017 and is open for lunch 7 days a week.

The Pikant lunch menu will feature hearty, healthy meals and picnic items that are made to pair with Uitkyk’s wines. From oven-baked honeyed camembert to bacon-wrapped sirloin skewers and enticing salads, the diverse menu will range in items costing anything from R89 to R140.

As for the tapas menu, guests have plenty of choice to fill their picnic baskets with delicious treats, including a selection of artisanal breads, meats, spring rolls, olives, mini tarts, cheeses and desserts. There will also be a special menu to keep the kids happy, with items like hot dogs on a stick, Nutella and banana sushi or quesadillas, and mini Greek salads.

Pikant at Uitkyk is open every day from 11.30am, serving lunch and tapas until 5pm, with the exception of weekends and public holidays when the kitchen will close at 7pm.
