Prickly Pears and Pomegranates – Marianne Palmer and Bernadette le Roux

From their family farm Cranemere in the Great Karoo, mother and daughter duo, Marianne Palmer and Bernadette le Roux have combined local, seasonal and organic ingredients into recipes which have been passed down through five generations of Palmer women.

Prickly Pears and Pomegranates is all about food as it should be: seasonal, simple and full of flavour with recipes like pot-roasted guinea fowl pie, blueberry meringue cloud, ruby jelly for sleepover guests (a definite must for a great party!) and saddle of venison with bacon and quince jelly.

Chapters are divided into ingredients like figs and quince; oranges and lemons; seeds and nuts and venison, biltong and lamb and all feature home cooking at its best.

Gorgeous photography from Craig Fraser makes this book extra special.
