Renowned for being the most laid-back city in the country, it makes sense that Cape Town would establish its own Slow Food branch. Slow Food Mother City will celebrate all good, clean and fair food, and host demonstrations, tastings, farm visits and picnics. Kicking off the unhurried festivities is the international Slow Food event, Terra Madré, which promotes local cuisines, artisan traditions, agricultural biodiversity and environmental sustainability. The event takes place on 10 December at the Kwalapa Organic Wholefoods Centre at 31 Newlands Avenue, where foodies will be able to enjoy lifes three simplest pleasures – bread, wine and good company – in the open air.
