International website TripAdvisor has released this year’s Traveler’s Choice Awards list for the best fine-dining restaurants in the world. SA’s number three restaurant, La Colombe in Constantia, Cape Town, has been named the sixth best in the world.

The crowd-sourced review site determines its awards using an algorithm that takes into account the quantity and quality of reviews for restaurants around the world over a 12-month period.

Scot Kirton, James Gaag and the La Colombe team have climbed up one spot from last year’s number seven position. Au Crocodile in Strasbourg, France, took the number one spot.

La Colombe was the only restaurant in South Africa to make TripAdvisor’s Top 25.
