Spur’s first drive thru is open

Since the late 60s, the Spur restaurant brand has been synonymous with all things family and fun – balloons, birthdays, colouring-in and of course … onion rings! In March this year, we announced that Spur would be innovating its model by adding a drive-thru format, giving customers a more convenient way to get their favourite Spur meals. And it’s finally here. The first Spur Drive Thru can be found in Gauteng at 905, Heinrich Ave, Karenpark, Pretoria.

Spur franchisee partner Charles Fourie proposed the idea of a drive-thru to the Group and noted the need for better convenience. “The Spur Drive Thru was built on a lot of passion, determination and hard work from every team member. We are thankful, excited and looking forward to welcoming the Pretoria Community to share this wonderful experience with you,” he says.

Fans will still be able to order cult classics like spare-ribs, flame-grilled burgers, onion rings and their famous original pink sauce with the option of some new menu items. Expect snack meals such as the quirky new “tripchips”, breakfasts in-hand, and “roadhouse-style” on-the-go desserts. The Drive Thru is running a limited R39.90 burger meal special from 1 June, which includes a beef Spur burger, Spur-style chips and soda.

Val Nichas, new Spur Corporation CEO, says: “Spur Steak Ranches is on a journey of transformation as a brand and business. The introduction of the Drive Thru is one of the progressive steps we are taking towards a more sustainable brand and business.”
