Where to stock up on deli items and provisions in Gauteng

As South Africans prepare for a nationwide shutdown, many are going to big supermarkets to stock up on the essentials. But as the large retailers run out of essentials, it’s a better time than ever to look to smaller businesses that we can support as they help keep us nourished. Here are some of our favourites in KwaZulu-Natal.

Note: When this article went live these businesses were still open for deliveries and collections. Follow Eat Out on Instagram as well as the individual Instagram accounts of the businesses below for up-to-date information.

Cremalat (Greenhills)

This cheese speciality shop also sells a range of other goodies, such as coffee, wine, pasta and bread. It’s also now offering a delivery service, which includes a selection of frozen meals.

The Leopard + (Braamfontein)

You’ll find delicious cured meats, dairy, eggs and more at this shopfront at 44 Stanley. (While you’re there, stock up on chocolate at Chocoloza and coffee from Bean There.)

Mafiosi (Birnam)
