Watch: How Bar Dough’s insane hot dogs are made

If the idea of a hot dog still conjures up plasticky rolls and pink viennas, we’ve got good news for you. At Bar Dough in Cape Town, baker Jason Lilley has given the old hot dog a serious upgrade. Made with Jason’s signature brioche rolls and filled with artisanal sausages and toppings like white-truffle mayo, basil pesto and beer-battered baby onions, these dogs are hot indeed. Watch the man himself preparing the Number Juan with bacon, tomato salsa, and smoked jalapeño cream-cheese mayo. We challenge you not to drool!

In addition to the Number Juan, Bar Dough also serves up a prawn dog with a Thai prawn veloute.

…The ‘dawgzilla’ – with octopus, chorizo and shakshuka.

And the French dip dawg, with braised brisket and fontina cheese and a dipping sauce.
