The 2026 Eat Out Woolworths Restaurant Awards may be over, but you can still taste the magic at home with the wines that were served on the night. Bottles from Boschendal, Fryer’s Cove, Bellingham and Avontuur – all exclusively available at WCellar – were poured at this much anticipated event at the Baxter Theatre Centre in Cape Town. 

This year’s selection wasn’t about pairing one wine to one dish. Instead, it was curated for versatility – wines chosen to complement the full dining experience, whether guests explored different varietals throughout the evening or enjoyed the same bottle from first course to final toast. 

Celebrating with bubbles
No awards evening is complete without bubbly. To mark a year of culinary excellence, guests were welcomed with glasses of Boschendal Brut NV on arrival – with the bubbles continuing to flow throughout the evening as the celebrations continued.

A wine selection to suit all palates
The white wine selection offered guests a diverse range of styles and expressions. From the Fryer’s Cove Sauvignon Blanc and Pandemonium Flying Dog Grenache Blanc to the Avontuur Disa Gorge Chardonnay and Bellingham The Bernard Series Old Vine Chenin Blanc, each was chosen to bring something distinctive to the table. From the crisp coastal character of the Sauvignon Blanc to the rich, layered complexity of the Old Vine Chenin Blanc, the selection balanced freshness, texture and depth, giving guests the freedom to discover their favourites throughout the evening. 

The red wine selection brought together Avontuur The West Peak Cabernet Sauvignon, Pandemonium Dandelion Malbec, Boschendal Nicolas and Fryer’s Cove Grenache Cinsault – offering guests a varied spread of varietals and styles to explore. Showcasing four distinct estates and four unique expressions of South African winemaking, the selection moved effortlessly from bold and structured to lighter, more elegant wines, celebrating the versatility of local reds.
