Where to work remotely in Durban

If you’re working from home (WFH) and need a change of scenery, these restaurants and coffee shops offer remote working facilities to make your WFH life easier!

Skyline Coffee (Morningside)

Skyline Coffee Roastery is situated just off Florida Road and is one of the coolest coffee spots Durban has to offer. They use only 100% Arabica beans for their coffee, ensuring perfection in a cup every time. With high-speed wifi and lots of cosy little spots to settle into and get those creative juices flowing, it’s the perfect spot to work from if you’re needing a change of scenery from your own home. It’s a hotspot for many Durban locals living the WFH life, so it’s also the perfect spot to meet like-minded people and great for networking. To keep you going throughout the day, they offer a selection of baked goods, pastries, cakes, toasted sarmies, breakfast buns, vegan treats, smoothies, avo on toast and more!

Fábrica Coffee (Sunningdale)

Fábrica Coffee at Sunningdale Centre offers not only great coffee, but it’s also the perfect spot to settle into in the morning for a full day of work. Their extensive menu will keep you going from breakfast through to dinner and when you clock off from your productive day in the “office” you can order yourself an after-work drink from their bar, which offers top-of-the-range whiskey, craft gins and a selection of Durban’s favourites. They provide free, unlimited wifi, and with indoor seating as well as a gorgeous little courtyard outside, you can work come rain or shine. Their friendly staff will make sure you are always taken care of.

Village at Yard 41 (Howick)

This family-style restaurant offers comfort-style food and cosy fireplaces that provide a feeling of warmth as soon as you step through the door. The beautiful open space boasts two floors, allowing ample space to set up shop for a productive work session. Get out your laptop and order some of their artisanal coffee to get the juices flowing. They offer unlimited, free wifi on the condition that you order something to eat or drink, so when you start feeling peckish you can take a look at their mouthwatering selection of hearty meals. They have also recently acquired their liquor license so you can look forward to a glass of wine after wrapping up your final meeting of the day.

Ground Coffee (Hilton)

Overlooking the Drakensberg, Ground Coffee in the Hilton Midlands aims to bring an entirely new experience to the act of drinking coffee. With an interest in the science behind pouring the perfect cup, great attention to detail in each step of the process is what sets Ground Coffee apart. It’s one of the few spots in the area that are this dedicated to their craft. As well as coffee, there are some light bites on offer along with free, unlimited wifi, which makes it a great spot to work remotely if you’re not going into the office. Situated along the wall are plug points (including two-prong plugs) that mean you can set up shop for the entire day. It’s the perfect spot to catch up on a few emails while sipping on a perfectly brewed americano.

Nestled in the heart of the bustling Umhlanga Ridge is this hidden gem, offering one of the best lattes around as well as fresh, healthy buffet-style lunches that change every week. With great wifi and great coffee, this is a popular spot for Umhlanga locals. The wifi is unlimited with the only requirement being that you order something to eat or drink. Sit down and settle in for a good few hours of uninterrupted work on your laptop. If you’re needing something sweet to fuel your brain, there is also a variety of freshly baked treats that are the perfect accompaniment to your caffeine fix.

Humble Coffee (Berea)
