My husband and I popped into Plant one Saturday afternoon for a bite. It's one of his favourite places - there is so much choice than just the usual Greek salad, veg stir-fry or mushroom risotto that are usually his lot when dining out. (I am not a veggie, but I feel his pain.) Plant is a gorgeous, moody little spot, into which you descend from the street down a few steps. Pale wood and a wall of living pot plants keep things feeling natural, but the room also has an industrial inner-city kind of vibe. I loved my personal bottle of beetroot-purple juice, which arrived cold from the fridge, along with a little glass. Yes, it means it was probably prepared an hour earlier instead of five minutes earlier, but I really appreciated how refreshing it was. As for the food, my choice of veggie wraps was a winner. Stuffed with slivers of peppers, avo, carrots, cabbage, coriander and sprouts, and paired with a little dipping sauce, the silky rice wraps were filling, gorgeous to look at, and very tasty. Just what the doctor ordered. I've also had the vish burger before, with potato emulating flakes of white fish pretty well. I haven't tried their selection of dairy-free brownies and bonbons, but they looked good too. Plant is a great spot for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike.
