The Table at De Meye

With the good weather - after a week of unseasonal rain! - we sat outside under the lovely big trees. Each table is under its own tree so you are very far from anyone else. The whole effect is of blissful tranquillity.
This is actually enhanced by not having to choose your food. Service happens quietly and efficiently while you just enjoy the company at your table and soak in the country ambience. Each course is brought to the table and described in detail - including the provenance of the ingredients. (They source most of their ingredients from within a very small radius of the farm.) Everything was delicious, perfectly balanced and served with style, but a total lack of pretentiousness. We had the De Meye Shiraz Rosé 2011 which was perfect for the time of day, the setting and the food. One of our party who doesn't drink alcohol, was delighted with their home-made sparkling lemonade. (Ginger beer and sparkling rose water are also home-made.)
Good value for a glorious food in a delightfully laid back atmosphere.
