Owner's description

The bright and modern Fountains restaurant seats 120 people. A buffet is available for a sumptuous breakfast, lunch and dinner. On sunny days the doors open up completely, joining the restaurant to the outside vibey terrace alongside the pool. Recline on the loungers on the sun deck and enjoy the sun.

Went on Sunday 10 September at 13h30 - only guests there. An average cold starter selection of salads, no carvery but a selection of prawns, chicken, calamari and beef strips for stir-frying. After some salad with dried-out roll-mops we tried the flashed-fried prawns and super-tough calamari. The initial mystery hot course of I think its chicken curry had been hastily replaced with roasted chicken pieces that I sent back as being very pink with traces of blood. No offer of cooking the remaining pieces further. The selection of varied veggies (from a frozen pack) were uninviting. At about 15h00 the salads were covered with cloths obviously for the evening sitting. When I complained to the Manager - Graham - about the fact that I saw him put his fingers into the carrots he explained that they should have been changed but they were not! He reckoned that pink chicken is OK. I pointed out that the salads may be resting in an iced compartment but the heat of the lighting above was gently cooking the salads. He said that he would bring it to the attention of the owners. Overall a most unsatisfactory visit and as there are another few hundred restaurants in Cape Town, we shall not be returning. Waiters main interest was watching (noisily) the wrestling on the TV. My advice? Dont bother!
