The Hoghouse Brewing Company specialises in making fresh, uncomplicated food with excellent ingredients by a team that loves what they do. We bake our cult Pastéis de Nata, croissants, breads and confectionery, Monday to Saturday, along with good coffee, eggy breakfasts and salad lunches. We smoke in the classic Texan BBQ style, currently serving BBQ lunch buns and our classic BBQ meats for Friday night "BBQ at the Bakery". We brew a range of focussed ales that compliment our menu. And we do this all in the unlikely location of Ndabeni.

    We had such a great meal on Fri night. Best fried chicken and that miso and hazelnut pasteis de die for!
    An absolute favourite, the Hoghouse wins allround in my books. From the carefully curated interiors, incredible tasty good quality meat to the best pastais de nada (PDN's as we like to call them) you'd ever find, this place has become our family's go-to choice for out-of-town lunches. Try their pineapple beer, any of the meats and make sure to buy a sourdough bread and some PDN's before they sell out. Do yourself a favour and go.
    Fantastic banting meal on a Friday early evening - started with jalapeno poppers filled with cheese, had Pork belly and Brisket Burnt ends as mains, and panzanella (rocket and goats cheese) as a side. Was way too much food for me, one main meat enough. Pork belly best!! A lovely barman who remembered what beer I ordered a previous time. The service of all staff were great - can see this is going to become a destination and people will drive far to eat this lovely food, and enjoy the beautiful gardens and setting at Spier. Well done!

    Popped in unannounced for lunch, and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. (I'd give it 4.5 out of 5 - but that's not possible). At first glance I struggled with the menu - I was hoping for ribs, or something similar. In the end, I plumped for steak tartare - which turned out to be spectacular. The meat was beautiful, clean and ruby red, and it was served very cleverly with sultanas which had been soaked in bourbon. For pud, I can recommend the salted caramel tart. The other things we tried were a bit too pastry-heavy (creme brûlée is perfect sans pastry in my opinion - no need to complicate!) Oh, and something which was noticably good: the service. Staff were really on it, and there were several people who helped us without being asked. Evidently there's been good training - or they're geared for busier days.

    Brilliant new place for breakfast, brunch or a lazy lunch. Sit under the trees outside or in the trendy interior & enjoy the craft beer, artisinal bakery and winning menu. The grounds are perfect for a walk or letting the kids run around while you relax - make sure to visit the vegetable & herb garden! Spier wines available at the Hog House at good prices and you'll want to take home all the delicious baked goodies for later.
