From the electrician hovering over our table, to the pseudo French Host, to a menu that was not the same as advertised on their website this dining experience was a DISASTER! The meal took 2 hours to get to us and 10 minutes to eat as the portion sizes were SO tiny! COMPLETELY unacceptable and I will never refer this place to anyone...sort it out guys, you have a BEAUTIFUL setting but appalling everything else.
Xmas Lunch December 2008 - the event was advertised with 6 live cooking sections (Indian, Chinese, grill, Asian, pizza & pasta, vegetables, dessert). There were only 3 stations, dessert, vegetables and the third one was made up of some dishes of all other sections). Only one was live cooking, the vegetable one. The one with all the main food was a canteen counter, so high that one could not always see and there was no labelling explaining what kind of food (Asian or Indian..) the pots held. There were only two very cheezy pizzas. Two pasta dishes were already mixed with the sauce and looked very unappetising exposed to the air. There was the impression that food is rationed with always only a few cold pieces of duck or meat lying on a plate (no live grilling). The pancakes and plum sauce was missing for the duck. There was also no lambshank on the spit, just some fatty pieces. When we enquired why the malva pudding is finished (only one of our guests had a try) and were told they made two bowls now it is finished.Staff was not trained to give details about wine and there was also no details printed on wine card. Very bad if one considers that the cheapest bottle was R110. Staff did no know how to pour wine and also placed forks on the table upside down (tooth touching the linen). The overall quality of the food was not good and equivalent to a standard of a 5 star. The presentation of the food and hall were not good at all. Sent two faxes to management and explained the bad quality, and received no response.A total rip off as they charged R 530 per person.I give a 4 for ambience as the outside sitting in the glass pavillions with the view is nice.
A must for all, beautiful setting and food is delicious
