Right from the moment we entered the restaurant I knew we were in for a wonderful evening. Sitting at the table WHICH WAS SET WITH A FISH KNIFE & FORK !!!! I was blown away. I really like old school and I haven't seen a proper setting in a restaurant for about 5 years ! Norma our waitress was fabulous - well versed in the menu, attentive but not overbearing, knowledgeable on the regular menu and willing to answer any questions we had. What a treat ! The complimentary demi tasse of butternut soup was a treat - well flavoured and seasoned perfectly. The wine was excellent and the service of it was perfect - Norma didn't touch the glass with the bottle once !!! Be still my beating heart! Our starters were served timeously were presented perfectly - the venison carpaccio was gamey, tender and the accompaniments were gorgeous pops of extra flavour that complimented the meat very well. My calamari was tender and succulent cooked perfectly with just the right amount of chilli to liven up my tastebuds. Our main course was also delicious - sirloin cooked to perfection and rested and being a Portuguese restaurant I opted for the Baby Chicken - a bit safe but it was a complete flavour bomb ! Basted with lemon & chilli it was succulent and portioned perfectly. I did ask for some peri peri and it was flavourful and gave me a little heart flutter ! Dessert was upon us ! " You can judge a restaurant on how good the creme brûlée is " I have been told and we were not disappointed ! Presented differently but had the perfect sugar crust and the light, rich gorgeous creme was out of this world. Pigalle Bedfordview - you alone have restored my faith in good food and proper service ! Well done to the owners and staff - properly trained, food was sublime and judging by the amount of people and tables turned on a long weekend I am not the only one who likes old school ( Fish knife & fork ) - on a scale of 1 - 10 you chaps are a 15 !!! Outstanding ! You will definitely see us again and again and again !
