Food was good, service was pleasant and a great setting

Man what a stunning location. The restaurant itself was in need of a little attention but the view is amazing. It's such a huge pity it is wasted by what seems to be a complete lack of interest in the service they offer and the food they serve. After waiting 30 odd minutes or so for our kids meals, my girlfriend eventually went and fetched them from the kitchen window where they had been sitting for ten minutes. The toasted sandwich looked as though it was deep fried. Our aupair ordered a burger. The patty looked as though it was one of those frozen "Big T burgers". The calamari can only be described as deep fried elastic bands. Completely tasteless, and for R90 ??? Even the tomato sauce was the kind you would find at a street vendor stall and that stains your fingers red. When charge these prices for food it needs to be of a superior standard. I don't see how this restaurant can survive on the location alone. We will definitely not be back. Rather drive 5 minutes down the road to Trattoria La Terrazza and save yourself a really disappointing experience.

While on holiday at the South Coast we were looking for an authentic seafood restaurant. We found Riptide on the internet and it looked like the perfect spot. We loved the location and the restaurant itself, but unfortunately that is where it stopped. The service was terrible and we waited 45 minutes for our starters, when we asked the waiter if the main courses are also take long, we got a sarcastic “yes”, and it did. The quality of the food was disappointing, especially since the prices are high. Overall I was disappointed in the terrible service, high prices and poor quality of food. I will not return to Riptide, nor recommend it to anyone else!

This venues service is appalling, food was so-so, however views were great.
