Owner's description

Wilderer was established by Master Distiller Helmut Wilderer in Stellenboch in January 1995 and enjoys the distinction of being South Africa’s very first state-of-the-art private grappa distillery.

Today Wilderer Distillery produces award-winning gin, grappa and eau de vie from two premises in the vicinity of Paarl – one in Simondium, another on the celebrated Spice Route destination Farm, in Suider-Paarl, each with its own restaurant. Join us at Pappa Grappa (Simondium) or La Grapperia (Spice Route) to enjoy a delicious meal alongside a tasting of our innovative spirits.

    Don't order the steak. This is definitely more of a place to eat pizza than anything else.

    Pappa Grappa is our perfect relax and enjoy station, the kids love it and have plenty of space to run around, while Mommy and Daddy enjoy the beautiful surroundings and of course the food! Excellent wine list, and the best pizzas and flammkuchen. Not forgetting the international award winning Grappas! We will definitely be back, again and again. PS. When you see the owners enjoying a meal with their friends at their own establishment and Christian taking orders himself and making sure everything is just right, you just know you picked the best spot.
