Owner's description

Tanen is a warm, relaxing space in a dusty rosé pink with accents of greens, gold and marble. They have a huge wall of wine as their back bar.

The food served here is contemporary with Middle Eastern influences and flavours. Think duck baklava with pistachio puree, smoked artichokes with beetroot labneh, and octopus with pomegranate - all with unusual boutique wines on their wine list or available on their wine harvest table.

We went there on a Wednesday when they were serving their wine and tapas special. The warm buzz drew us in, and the Owner Caitlin's attention to detail made the experience so much more memorable. She took her time to elaborate on the wines and took great care to ensure we all got paired up with the perfect glass. The decor is clearly done with care and the food was delicious! Pricing is excellent (apart from the special) - will definitely return soon!
Friday night dinner at Tanen was a mixed bag of experiences. Staff were friendly, but service was hopelessly slow (20 minutes to get any attention in a half full restaurant). The food was hit or miss, and portion sizes seemed to vary dramatically. Considering Tanen is a wine bar, wine seemed to be a non event. There was no pairing recommended with any of the food, no elaborate back story to the wines. It all seemed to fall flat really. The saving grace has to be their cocktails. Their cocktails are thoughtfully and skilfully made, and beautifully presented too. It's highly unlikely we'd hurry back to Tanen, but go and decide for yourself.
