Owner's description
The Olive is the love child of the De Beer family, chef Ruan, brother Niel and father Johan. Ruan and Niel both worked locally and abroad in the industry and gained valuable experience in the last few years, while Johan owned and operated his pizzeria for 6 years in Somerset West. The Establishment has a cozy, friendly and warm ambience and youll feel right at home as soon as you enter the gates at this hidden gem. They cater for a variety of clientele with a warm and cozy restaurant, large stoep where you can get lost to the sounds of the birds in the the aviary or the lapa with a bar and a big screen TV for the sports enthusiasts.

Sat outside the marquee tent on a lovely Summers eve. Chicken livers and pepperdew poppers were good. Mains: Pork belly excellent and pizza with thin base was good, although the mozzarella on the pizza had a rather strange sweetness to it(perhaps it was buffalo mozzarella, not sure). Service was attentive and quick. Will definitely return.

I booked the 'Lapa' area for my husband's 45th birthday and we were expecting 30 people. After 4 booking confirmations via telephone and email, much to my surprise, my guests and I arrived and the area we booked was then shared with other guests, not decorated with the décor and balloons I dropped off that morning, nor the wine for the tables. Sadly the manner in which the owner's brother handled the situation did not sit well with us. We really like the venue, however this experience and behaviour is not what we expected bringing a group of 30 people to a big event in our lives.
