We were racially abused by the owner because my 6 year old mixed the salt and pepper in a side plate to have with our meal The owner was extremely rude and being Indian compared us to all the other guests that were not Indian She threatened to have us thrown out by security Please don’t support this racist restaurant
What a wonderful experience, good food specially the Melanzane starter - my absolute favorite! Comfort food at its best! A Neighbourhood Gem!!! We are definitely becoming locals!!
What an utterly awful experience! I ordered a glass of the house dry white wine which was shown at a certain price on the menu. When we received the bill the glass of wine was eight rand more than shown on the menu. When I casually queried this with the waitress she simply said that she had brought me the more expensive wine. On principle I find this unacceptable and explained that that was not what I had ordered. She said tough, as this is what I had drank. I then asked to speak to the manager or owner and was informed that she was busy and would have no interest in speaking to me! When she eventually came out her response was even more shocking. She said that I obviously could not afford the difference in price! I am completely stunned and would never have believed that someone would speak to a customer that way! They would be well advised to note that a rather large part of being in the hospitality industry consists of being hospitable! An experience never to be repeated!
Ambience supposed to be 'family friendly' and 'comfy causal' but our experience was far from this. Verbally abused and screamed at by the owner of the restaurant and humiliated in front of family at a 90th Birthday and the other restaurant guests. This was after a family member was upset about having had ordered the Oxtail and was served stewing meat. Very disappointing as we are frequent guests and had recommend the resturant to family and friends.
After making a booking for 13 people at Village Bistro and receiving less than mediocre service from a poorly trained waitress we were verbally accosted by the owner. One of us ordered the oxtail and when made mention to the waitress that it was dry and not good quality meat she went and spoke to the owner/chef. The owner then stormed out of the kitchen and started freaking out, very upset about this criticism. When told that she shouldn't speak to her customers like that she has the audacity to say that she works very hard and doesn't sit around and drink coffee all day. What a cheeck this woman has, if it wasn't for people sitting around drinking coffee she wouldn't have a restaurant to run. She also made it very clear that she has a full restaurant. So she clearly shows now gratitude for our patronage. Village Bisto a place I wouldn't recommend to visit.
