Owner's description

Wagon Trail Brewery, the latest addition to the Anura collection, is a microbrewery, with a capacity of a 500litre batch brew, offering a selection of craft beers as well as a brewpub. The industrial style brew pub allows you to sample our selection of craft beers, while witnessing the beer making process in action and enjoying the menu comprising of hand-produced charcuterie, cheeses and laidback gastro-pub style foods. Think grassfed beef burgers, charcuterie hot dogs, hot-wings and vege crisps. When the sun comes out, all this can be enjoyed on our expansive deck overlooking the Lillypad pond.

Brewed on the site of the old route used to service the trading post at Cape Town harbour in 1819, the beer pays homage to those who forged the original wagon trail and their enduring quest for refreshment. Each of the finely crafted beers is an ice-cold, thirst-quenching tribute to pioneering spirit. Every unexpected twist, a salute to those trailblazers who break the rules for rewarding results. Wagon Trail Brewery has now introduced something known as Wagon Wednesday where you can still expect good food, good beer and good live entertainment

I recently had lunch at this establishment. The new brewery is a really great addition to this already good wine estate! All the beers were ecxcellent! We tasted the full range (for only R25). The food was exceptional and very well priced. It is crafty /modern pub food served on rustic wooden boards. The interior is really great - a lot of attention to detail. We had no problems with the service. Overall a great experience. A really cool addition to the craft beer scene in SA.
We went there with a group of friends for lunch over the weekend. The place looks great and it is beautiful to sit under the trees. The wine is great and also the beer and food was decent. The service was horrible. We waited about 20 minutes for our drinks order to be taken then just as long for every one to get their drinks. Then food took an hour just so that 2 of the orders was incorrect dish. It is such a nice place with great potential. They will have to make a plan with the service because it kills the overall experience.
A great offering in one place – wine, beer and food. Service was a little lacklustre, food was average to good. The only real problem i had was the beer – I ordered an OxBlood and when I tasted it there was a distinct flavour of cleaning fluid, I sent it back and asked if the brewer or someone else could taste it and confirm. No-one came back. Later a manager came to ask if everything was okay and I ponted out the problem and he said he would look into and also never came back. Perhaps these are early-day jitters but still not great. Worth trying if you're in the area though.
