I'm sure by now everyone knows about Nuri's in Cape Town. This is definitely the place to go. Whether its just to unwind, a pick me upper or to just spoil yourself for a change, Nuri's definitely ticks all the boxes. For those who thought sushi only consisted of salmon roses, Californian rolls etc, you'll be in for a taste bud ride of your life. My ultimate addiction are the crunch rolls but the BESTEST would be the ? volcano (the sauces & mayo are the best creations ever). If you want a little bit of everything the CHEFS selection platter is the way to go. So what are you guys waiting for ????
On a recent business trip to Cape Town my colleague and I decided to take a walk around the City Bowl to see what surprises Cape Town had in store for us. We had gone about 100m from our accommodation when we found a little piece of Sushi heaven in a small alley. The restaurant is beautifully laid out with ample space to feel at home and most importantly toasty warm and out of the cold Cape Town winter weather. Being very new to sushi myself it took us a good few minutes to get through the menu, there were so many interesting options and the prices were so affordable I changed my mind several times before settling on The Crunch combo. We waited patiently while the friendly staff rushed off to place our order, taking in the atmosphere. Capetonians are genuinely welcoming which made our foretaste of the meal to come even more intriguing. The absolutely mouth-watering appearance of the dish made me feel like we were sitting in a 5 star restaurant with nothing but the best presented to us. After a few attempts at the chopstix (which are always worth using in the end) I finally managed to get a Prawn Crunch Roll into my mouth... and at that moment the world fell away and my taste buds were enveloped with the most delicious flavour of warm prawn fused with fried batter. My colleague and I just stared at each other like we had never tasted sushi so sensational before. It was crunchie on the outside and flavourful on the inside, together creating a taste explosion that is one of a kind. Next was the Tuna Crunch Roll and although the texture of the crunchie on the outside and soft on the inside was still the same the flavour was very different, the secret I am sure was in the sauce used with the tuna. This was definitely one of those platters that leaves you wanting more. After the plate magically emptied itself I was tempted to try their gourmet dessert sushi... The Choc Banana Crunch Roll, continuing the absolutely divine sensation of the crunch. I waited in longing anticipation for this one as I knew the standard after the main course was already so high. After ten minutes which felt like half a day the most amazing dessert was laid in front of me. The dessert is sprinkled with crushed nuts and wrapped in Nutella Calafornia & chocolate sauce... the taste of chocolate in the fried batter is enough to fulfil any broken heart. Definitely an idea to bring your special someone to this restaurant on every occasion. I did not particularly enjoy the banana in the middle but it did not ruin the dish at all. By the end of our meal I had fallen in love with Nuri Sushi and if ever I find myself in Cape Town I would go out of my way to visit there again. There were so many other options that looked so inviting I would love to get the chance to try another of their dishes. The average cost of an 8 piece dish is under R60, that's incredible in my books. This restaurant left me with feelings of warm summer days and peaceful long walks with a loved one. I rate this one 4 out of 5 stars. You wont regret the visit.

Best sushi in town! Runs circles around all the other spots in the city. Great menu, freshly made sushi and friendly service. Highly recommended!

Seriously, the sushi does not get better than this! Creative, super fresh, packed with flavour and incredible presentation. Won't eat sushi anywhere else in South Africa!
