A yummy Chinese New Year

The Chinese zodiac tells us that 2011 is the Year of the Golden Rabbit – a year that is supposed to bring calm and relaxation. And what better way to relax than with a veritable Chinese feast. For Chinese New Year, stylish So Yum in Hyde Park Shopping Centre is celebrating ‘Yum cha’, an age old Chinese cuisine style that includes the unique culinary art of dim sum, which just happens to be the restaurant’s specialty.

The delicious bite-sized morsels are filled with a variety of meat, seafood and vegetable fillings, which are individually prepared with great skill and care, before being steamed, baked or pan-fried. This Chinese New Year, enjoy dim sum from So Yum’s extensive dim sum menu – try delicious Har Gua (prawn and celery in translucent rice pastry) or scallop dumpling (scallop and prawn with spring onion in wheat pastry) – and sip on the eatery’s selection of fabulous fragrant teas, which will cleanse your palate and stimulate your appetite. So Yum also offers other eclectic Asian-style dishes the likes of salads, aromatic curries, wok stir-fries, and a variety of noodle dishes.

If cleansing teas aren't your thing, then take note of the selection of cocktails including fabulous classics the likes of cosmopolitans, mojitos and margaritas, or sip on a glass of vino from the restaurant's excellent array of local wines.
