Bountiful, bubbly buffet

Keen to sidestep a spell of the Sunday blues? Head on over to 15 on Oranges Savour Restaurant and ease out of the weekend with their series of leisurely bubbly Sunday buffet lunches.

Prepared by Mauritian-born executive Chef Michael Meyepa, who honed his culinary skils at Sun City, The Table Bay Hotel and luxury seabound resort, The World, the epic epicurean feast covers the continents.

Starters include buffalo mozzarella with home-made pesto, seared beef carpaccio with mushroom confit and horseradish cream; gravadlax with honey-mustard dressing and wasabi crème fraîche; freshly shucked oysters with lemon and sauce mignonette; and Italian charcuterie with stone-ground mustard.

Mains star hearty eats like kingklip and prawn thermidor with leeks; hazelnut-crusted beef fillet mignon with wild mushroom casserole; slow-roasted garlic and rosemary leg of Karoo lamb; and smoky Hungarian goulash.

Sweet tooths can finish off the bachhanalian banquet with decadent treats such as blueberry cheese cake, key-lime pie, chocolate-and-black cherry gateau, sachertorte, tiramisu and a selection of picture-pretty petit fours.

Those keen to wrap up the festivities with something slightly less sacharine, can work their way through the comprehensive spread of local and international cheeses.

Tickets cost R250 per person and includes all the sparkling wine your heart desires. For more information and a complete buffet menu, contact 021 469 8000.
