Chef Peter Tempelhoff to leave Greenhouse after 11 years

Chef Peter Tempelhoff, who has been executive chef at Greenhouse at The Cellars Hohenort for the past 11 years, took to social media yesterday to announce that he will be parting ways with the Constantia restaurant – which is currently number 6 in the country – after over a decade.

“An Epic 11 years come to an end today! Farewell to the teams at Greenhouse Restaurant [and] The Liz McGrath Collection. I will really miss your passion and dedication,” reads the chef’s post.

Peter will be leaving the restaurant in the very capable hands of his former sous chef, Farrel Hirsch, who took over as head chef in November after Ashley Moss made the move to Peter’s newest venture, FYN. “I am confident that Farrel will build on the foundations in place and grow Greenhouse’s reputation as one of the leading restaurants in South Africa and the world,” says Peter of Greenhouse‘s new head chef.

What’s next for Peter? The chef will continue to put all his energy into his new City Bowl restaurant: “FYN needs my undivided attention,” says the chef. FYN, which was a concept over 20 years in the making, opened in November 2018 at Speakers’ Corner on Parliament Street.
