Chicken cheesecake and duck confit brownies: the Parisian café where savouries look like pudding

Brought to you by Emirates

If the idea of Heston Blumenthal’s meat fruit upsets you, we’ve got some bad news: describing its particular style of food as ‘tromp l’oeil’ cuisine, a Parisian restaurant is serving savoury dishes disguised as dessert, and sweet treats made to look like mains.

At Privé de dessert in Paris, your éclair might contain salmon and wasabi cream ‘icing’. And a tarte tatin? Polenta, mackerel and caramelised turnip. Alternatively, opt for a cornet of churros – their version of French fries – or a clafoutis with olives and confit tomatoes. After something sweet? Try the fried eggs – passion-fruit mousse in a coconut panna cotta – or the fish and chips, with a pineapple roti. There’s also a charcuterie dish which features chocolate salami.

The restaurant was recently featured on Tastemade’s Alice in Paris series (which we’re glued to!).

But do they taste good? TimeOut reviewer Maria Hagan claims they really do deliver on flavour , but you’re going to have to take a trip to Paris to find out for yourself.

Watch out, that’s not matcha icing.

Yep, that’s ceviche, not apple.

Tarte au citron? We think not.
