COVID-19: KZN restaurants offering dine-at-home options

Since the first case of COVID-19 was reported in South Africa, many restaurants have taken to social media to announce their plans going forward. Whether temporarily closing or taking measures to serve customers curbside only or via a hatch, restaurants are doing what they can to assist in flattening the curve. The latest development amongst local chefs and their establishments is to launch dine-in options and homemade family meals, with chefs and restaurateurs taking orders via Whatsapp, email or direct messaging.

Offering takeaways or food deliveries? Let us know what you’re doing or what your favourite restaurant is doing. In the meantime, here is the list of restaurants offering a solution to dining during self-isolation or social distancing. We’ll be updating it regularly, so check back to see what your favourite spot is offering.

Al Firenze: Click, order, and collect lunch or dinner items of their menu.

To order: Choose your meal and order via their website.

Bel Punto: The team are offering fine-dining to-go with their call-and-collect menu. Visit their Instagram page for the menu.

To order: Call 031 568 2407 and give them 40 minute prep time. Let them know when you arrive and they will have your meal wrapped up and brought down to you with a sanitized credit card terminal.

Butcher Boys: The restaurant has introduced a Cook at Home concept with a selection of meats to order for collection.

To order: Call any one of restaurant branches between 12pm and 9pm, place your order and confirm your pick up time. They’re also offering curbside, contactless collection.

Humble Coffee: Offering a self-care survival pack with breakfast provisions for R350. Free delivery within a 5km radius.

To order: WhatsApp them on 081 325 8313. Zapper payments only.

Lucky Shaker: Home deliveries and takeaways of family burger meals, taco platters; salad bowls; and pasta dishes via Whatsapp. They’re also offering their homemade sodas with added vitamin C. Delivery is available for orders over R200 within a 5km radius. Delivery fees may apply.

Parc Cafe: To start serving a limited menu focusing on take-home meals. Visit their Facebook page for updates.

Shoots & Leaves: Call-and-collect menu available with daily menu options. Check out their Instagram page for the menu. Prices are for one portion. They’ll also be offering freezer feasts to stock up on with one, two or four portion dishes.

To order: Email rob@shootsandleaves.co.za or call 078 017 6128. Pre-orders are to be placed by 3pm the previous day and collection is between 12 and 2pm. The freezer meals will be available for delivery to collection points in Umhlanga and Ballito.
