Doggy’s day out in Durban: Where to enjoy a meal with man’s best friend

Here are six restaurants in Durban for you and your favourite furry friend to enjoy an epic adventurous day out!

Bike and Bean (Point Waterfront)

This local restaurant that was well known for its spot overlooking the surf on the Snell Parade has relocated to two stunning new venues, both of which are doggy friendly. Walk along the boardwalk extending from the Umhlanga Promenade and find yourselves sitting in the forest at their Forest Café or experience their signature restaurant at the waterfront. Both venues welcome furry friends and offer water bowls and doggy cappuccinos.

The Galley Beach Bar and Grill (Ballito)

With a menu designed to make your pup’s mouth water, this is the ultimate dog-friendly restaurant. Their Canine Menu serves up treats such as Hound Dog Haven consisting of 100g of grilled and cubed rump, the Pooch Breakfast consisting of grilled and sliced bacon and pork sausage, and their Milk Draught, which is a big bowl of milk.

Oh My Soul Cafe (Durban North)

You wouldn’t think that a proudly vegan restaurant could cater to our canine friends, but this hidden gem offers up some tasty treats on their menu that ensures your dog doesn’t feel left out while you munch on some plant-based goodness. They serve up “furry ice-cream” in various flavours such as peanut butter, banana and coconut milk as well as delicious healthy dog biscuits.

Surf Riders Café (Addington Beach)

After taking your pooch for a long walk along the Durban Promenade, stop off at Surf Riders Café for some refuelling. While you tuck into one of the delicious items on the menu, your dog is in for a treat with a list of items to choose from off their doggie menu, including the deluxe snack biscuit – honeyed bacon dog biscuits, soft serve, peanut butter and caramel sauce that they can wash down with a puppuccino.

Daily Dose (Umhlanga)

Daily Dose, which is known in Umhlanga as one of the best coffee spots around, welcomes furry friends big and small and always loves to greet them with a bowl of fresh water and their well-known puppuccino. They also sell delicious dog biscuits that are a crowd favourite.

Mary & Joe (Umhlanga)

With more and more people wanting to bring their pets along for Sunday brunch, Mary & Joe have welcomed the trend and curated a fabulous menu that will make it hard to leave man’s best friend at home. Choose from scrambled eggs, chicken strips, their dog biscuit bag or a puppuccino.
