Grub & Vine expands to the Constantia wine valley

Grub & Vine has announced the upcoming launch of its second restaurant, Grub & Vine Norval, situated at the Norval Foundation in the Constantia wine valley. Anticipated to welcome guests starting 30 November, just in time for the festive season, this new culinary venture promises refined bistro-style cuisine complemented by an extensive wine selection featuring the best of South African wines alongside curated international offerings.

“A custodian and protector of African visual art, Grub & Vine Norval sets out to celebrate the commonality between beautiful food, wine and art. Art – whether it be visual, culinary or the artistry of winemaking – invokes emotion. It has the power to make you feel nostalgic, invigorated or inspired. We not only believe in the beautiful synergy between all three, our vision is for our guests to feel it too,” says Matt Manning, chef patron and director of the Grub & Vine group.

Drawing parallels with its sister restaurant on Bree Street, Grub & Vine Norval guarantees a warm and inviting ambience. Collaborating with Mona Eastman from Stokberd for the interiors, Matt describes a space adorned with rich colours and textures, creating warmth without compromising the structural grandeur of the Norval building. Notable features include an open-plan kitchen and a 16-seater Chef’s Table for an immersive dining experience. “We’re also excited about our spacious outdoor deck, which will be very popular in the warmer months,” he adds.

Louis Norval, founder of the Norval Foundation, is delighted to welcome Grub & Vine to the Norval Foundation, saying that Matt has a stellar reputation as a restaurateur. “Matt’s passion for food and wine aligns perfectly with the Norval Foundation’s objective to support an appreciation for good food and wine paired with the art and culture events we are so known for. The elegant yet relaxed atmosphere of the new Grub & Vine Norval will be the perfect fit for us and will be a dining destination where art, food, wine and culture come together,” he says.

Grub & Vine Norval opens its doors on 30 November 2023 and is now open for bookings.
