Where to indulge in oysters and bubbly

With January nearly over, it’s time for some fun and indulgence, so we’re cracking out the bubbly and oysters. These are the restaurants in the country where you can enjoy the two together in all its different iterations.


Cape Town Fish Market 

The nationwide favourite offers oysters served traditionally, on ice with a mignonette sauce and lemon.


Bottega Café (Parkhurst)

Kream Restaurant (Midrand)

Marble (Rosebank)

Qunu at the Saxon (Sandhurst)        

The oyster and caviar starter at Qunu is a real showstopper, especially when enjoyed alongside a chilled glass (or bottle!) of bubbles.


The Grill Room (Umhlanga)

The Grill Room offers all things oysters, from native oysters served simply with a red wine mignonette on toasted brioche to flame-grilled oysters with a burnt scallion butter and parmesan floss. It’s one for the oysters-and-bubbly bucket list.

Jack Salmon Fish House (Glen Ashley, Florida Road, Salt Rock and Hillcrest)

At Jack Salmon you’ll get your oysters freshly shucked and served the old-fashioned way. Don’t forget to pair it with some refreshing bubbly.
