At last, Starbucks has arrived in Cape Town and, wow, did they land with a big splash, launching six new stores over the upcoming four weeks.
The first Starbucks in the Western Cape opens this weekend in Canal Walk. From 19 November, you can visit and sample a Caramel Frappuccino®, pose for pictures and take home some famous coffee beans.
And there’s no need to be worried about long queues and big crowds. Starbucks knows that we’re excited to visit, and they’ve put in a reservation system to allow you to book a time slot to visit the café safely.
“The safety of our partners and customers is our foremost priority, and we’re creating an opportunity for connection, something Starbucks is known for around the world. Instead of queuing to be among the first to experience Starbucks in the Mother City, Capetonians will be able to book their exclusive slot for the opening weekend at four of our new stores,” says Adrian Maizey, owner and CEO of Rand Capital Coffee, the licensee of Starbucks in Southern Africa.
How to book
To book your Starbucks launch experience in one of the participating Cape Town Starbucks stores, simply visit http://ct.starbucks.co.za/. Pre-bookings go live on Monday 16 November and are only available for the opening weekends at Canal Walk (19–22 November), Cavendish Square (28 and 29 November), Tyger Valley (5 December) and V&A Waterfront (10–13 December). Also opening in December is Starbucks at FreshX Stellenbosch on 12 December and Starbucks Camps Bay on 15 December.
Did someone say “free stuff”?
To sweeten the deal even further, Starbucks is giving away Starbucks merchandise including tote bags and pop sockets as well as mini bags of coffee to the first customers to pre-book their opening experience at the store of their choice.
