Wine enthusiasts, oenophiles, and food connoisseurs, mark your calendars for a delightful weekend of award-winning wine tasting and exquisite cuisine. The Pick n Pay Wine & Food Festival Johannesburg will take place on November 4th and 5th at The Wanderers Club in Illovo, Johannesburg.

Discover a world of wine

Indulge in an extensive selection of South Africa’s top wine varietals, from robust reds to crisp whites, and everything in between.

“The Pick n Pay Wine and Food Festival offers an array of wines to suit every palate, with winemakers and expert sommeliers on hand to guide visitors through tastings, allowing them to appreciate the unique flavours and aromas of each wine fully,” says Katie Bailie, Pick n Pay Senior Wine Buyer.

A toast to sparkling wines

For those who adore bubbles, the festival features a dedicated Sparkling Wine area, celebrating both locally produced Cap Classique and French Champagne. The event also keeps up with the trend for no- and low-alcohol wines, offering tastings in these categories. A Valpré water station will ensure guests stay hydrated with ample fresh water.

More than 30 of the wines available for tasting at the festival can be purchased at the on-site Pick n Pay Wine Shop. You can enjoy them at the festival or order for same-day delivery through Pick n Pay asap!

Tasting masterclasses

In the popular Pick n Pay Tasting Room, chefs and winemakers will share their favourite picks from their estates, paired with mouth-watering canapés in a tasting masterclass. These sessions are 30 minutes each, and booking is essential as they fill up quickly.

“With these sessions, we aim to equip festivalgoers with the knowledge and skills to host unforgettable dinner parties for friends and family,” says Katie.

Food market

The festival’s Pick n Pay Fresh Food Market will offer diverse culinary delights, including burgers, pizzas, fish and chips, salads, oysters, and sushi. Live music will serenade your taste buds as you enjoy offerings from the Pick n Pay Crafted Collection Deli, featuring cheese and charcuterie boards.

For those who prefer a curated dining experience, consider upgrading your ticket to include a picnic hamper. The lavish Pick n Pay picnic basket is filled with a selection of the grocer’s finest offerings, including carefully chosen cheeses, artisanal cured hams, freshly baked bread, biltong, hummus, and more.
