Public service announcement: Lefty’s Dive Bar is delivering in Cape Town

Attention, Cape Town city bowl residents: Lefty’s will now deliver its dive-bar goodness to your home from 5pm to 10pm, Monday to Saturday, for free. Indeedy, you can now slurp ramen noodles or get up to your elbows in rib sauce – all while wearing your pyjamas.

These ribs were just everything and more. #food #cheat #capetown

Fans can order from the menus at Lefty’s and its upstairs sibling, Downtown Ramen. “It’s ramen, burgers, bao… basically everything except for the slow-cooked Texas barbecue items like the smoked brisket; they don’t travel well,” says Lefty’s owner Ryan McDonagh. The menu includes popular buttermilk-battered fried chicken ’n waffles with bacon and maple syrup, wood-fired pizzas, and sandwiches with pickles and tasty toppings.

If you live anywhere in the Cape Town city bowl, from Zonnebloem up to De Waterkant area, and everything between, including Tamboerskloof, Oranjezicht, Higgovale, Gardens etc., you’re in luck. “Well, that’s for the beginning, while we’re finding our feet. We don’t want to have a driver stuck in Woodstock trying to get back into town at rush hour!”

Yes I’ve become that person – food pics but it’s just soooo pretty #downtownramen #amazing #wow

The team has begun marketing the deliveries very gently, telling sit-down customers about the service as they’re paying their bills, and doing some menu drops in post boxes in the City Bowl. Ryan says they’re taking it slowly for now; they want to ensure the Lefty’s experience makes its way to people at home – and that it’s a good one.

Try it out for yourself: Lefty’s delivers for free – but remember to tip your driver! – from 5pm to 10pm, Monday to Saturday. Call 021 461 0407 to place an order.
