Award-winning Stellenbosch-based restaurateur and chef Bertus Basson has launched Spekkie’s Fried Chicken as part of his brand. Fans of fried chicken can look forward to the option of whole fried chicken for the family, chicken sandos or fried chicken and waffles. There’s also the option to add some lip-smacking sides such as hand-cut fries with truffle range dressing or crispy slaw with soy dressing. Eat at the restaurant or enjoy as a takeaway. The LDR burger

Luke Dale Roberts and his Test Kitchen Origins team are “slinging” burgers and we’re here for it. Choose between beef, chicken or veggie options. All burgers are R110 each and are available for order from Thursday to Saturday this week and, from 25 January, will be available seven days a week. Order online at Burgers are for pick-up only (from The Test Kitchen Origins) and can be collected between 5 and 7.30pm.

Tjing Tjing Torii

In the mood for delicious gyoza? Tjing Tjing Torii’s call-and-collect menu is extensive. Check it out on their website. There is loads on offer – from the tebasaki chicken wings in hot chilli sauce to the agemono aubergine hirata with shiso pickled cabbage and kewpie mayo. Torii is open Tuesday to Saturday, 12-7pm. Chef Johannes Richter of LivingRoom Summerhill Estate has put together a drool-worthy basket full of delicious fare. Think sourdough olive bread, crayfish bisque, Zulu pumpkin, chicken tagine, homegrown vegetable salad and more. The baskets can be collected or delivered from Friday to Monday. A basket for two is R520 and a basket for four is R1,020.
