Stellenbosch Street Soirées are back shining a spotlight on exciting culinary offerings

The town of Stellenbosch in the Western Cape is well known for its great wine but is also home to several exceptional restaurants. Taking a slow walk along its oak-lined streets, you will find wine bars, cafes, restaurants, art galleries and more.

Stellies is often referred to as ‘wine country’ due to the immense number of renowned wine farms in the area and the existing wine routes have locals and tourists flocking to this quaint little town.

With such a bustling food and wine scene, The Stellenbosch Wine Routes and several eateries have come together to bring back the annual Street Soirées.

Taking place from January to March, the Street Soirées consist of a series of food and wine tastings set outdoors where visitors can soak up the balmy summer evenings with a glass of wine and a delicious bite.

The participating restaurants include:

Joostenberg Bistro

Rooted in offering an informal bistro dining experience, Head Chef Garth Bedford has created a menu that offers fuss-free, wholesome dishes.

With a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu, guests can choose from a selection of dishes including herb-crusted pork loin with pickled vegetables and cabbage salad, pork and bean casserole, French toast, chocolate and almond flourless cake and more.

De Vrije Burger

Founded and created by celebrated local Chef Bertus Basson, De Vrije Burger is known for its delicious burger and fries. The restaurant also offers vegetarian burger options along with onion rings, ice cream and more.
