Tali’s favourite restaurants in the Mother City

Howzit, how you? I’m Tali – from Tali’s Wedding Diary, now the star of Tali’s Baby Diary. Yes, guys, I am going to be a #momfluencer! And you can follow Darren and my journey on Showmax!

But enough about things to come… As you guys know, I’m a Joburger living in Cape Town. And the one thing I adore about the Mother City is all the amazing restaurants you can find here. Here are my go-to spots.

Arthur’s Mini Super

This cute café and deli on Arthur’s Road, Sea Point is my ultimate go-to, guys! They make the most stunning sandwiches, breakfasts, coffee and sweet treats – basically the cheesecake of my dreams. I like to swing by after a walk on the Prom, and my favourite thing on the menu at the moment is the pan con tamate on sourdough. And if you go, tell Will and Steph I said hi and that I love them soooo much. Shame.

Bootlegger Coffee Company

Okay, I’ll admit, I’m a coffee snob, but who in Cape Town isn’t?! We actually drank Bootlegger’s coffee on set for the whole shoot and, honestly, it’s the only thing that got me through those long days. The greatest thing about Bootlegger is that there’s one around every corner – so easy for a quick catch-up or delicious lunch.

Kleinsky’s

You guys! If you love bagels as much as I do, then this has to be your new favourite spot. They have the most delicious food and the BEST challah French toast you will ever eat. So delicious. My bagel of the moment is the veggie bagel with cheese and don’t even get me started on the babka loaf. I’m finished. One of our favourite local spots.

The President Hotel

If you fancy an outdoor day with the girls or even just some alone time (it’s important, guys) I highly recommend the President! Kick your feet up by the pool and enjoy the beautiful views, yummy food and excellent service. No, guys, I feel like I’m living my Hollywood best life whenever I go there. It’s my special place!

Oranjezicht City Farm Market

Guys! Did someone say delicious, local, beautiful food? If you haven’t visited this market yet, go hungry. Be prepared to eat and drink a million incredible things and leave with your arms bursting with freshly baked goods, organic vegetables, flowers and a LOT of little custard pastries. Sunday mornings here are my best.

The Shortmarket Grill

Don’t even get me started on the food here – I have never! This is the perfect spot for a romantic or business dinner. Everything about this restaurant is just amazing: the ambience, the incredible food, even the lighting. I could go on and on. Luke, your restaurants are a dream. Love Tali babes.

Salsify and The Lawns at the Roundhouse

Salsify is just stunning! It’s a historical landmark turned gorgeous lunch and dinner spot and the food is to die for. The Lawns is also fabulous for a get-together with friends for a relaxed vibe, yummy cocktails and those views! What a place to spend an afternoon.

Gibson’s

Did someone say gourmet burgers, ribs and shakes?! Guys. Date nights or shopping break lunches at Gibson’s are the ultimate. There are so many amazing things to choose from so Darren and I usually order two (or three) different things and share. I mean a Snickers Pretzel shake? I’m finished.

And that’s my list, guys! Don’t stalk me now, hey! And don’t forget to follow Darren and my journey to parenthood in Tali’s Baby Diary exclusively on Showmax. The first four episodes are out now, with the next six due on 12 March. And, if you missed it, see where our story began in Tali’s Wedding Diary.
