With Valentine’s Day around the corner, it can be stressful trying to think of what to do to celebrate with your significant other. These restaurants in Durban are all offering up a special menu for the day, so make sure to book now for a romantic meal for two.

Dante (Umhlanga)

This popular restaurant in Umhlanga has curated a special five-course menu that is on offer for lunch and dinner on the 12th, 13th and 14th for dinner from 4pm. The meal comes with a complimentary glass of Graham Beck bubbly and costs R595 per person. Some items on the menu include pan-seared scallops for starters, confit duck leg for mains and strawberry tart with whipped cream for dessert.

Old Town Italy (Umhlanga)

If you’re looking for something a little more interactive and fun this Valentine’s Day, Old Town Italy is the perfect place. They are hosting an exclusive pizza-making class from 6pm, which you can enjoy with your significant other while tucking into a delicious antipasto board and Old Town Italy wine. This will be an experience you won’t forget! The cost is R575 per couple and bookings are essential.

Fiamma Grill (Ballito)

If you’re on the North Coast, head over to Fiamma Grill for a special three-course meal that includes a glass of bubbles on arrival. Relax and listen to live music while you tuck into a mouthwatering dinner with options like salmon roses for starters, kingklip dressed in lemon butter, caper and sage sauce served with spinach and cauliflower spaghetti for mains ,and fudge Picasso for dessert. The cost is R500 per person.

Little Havana (Umhlanga)

Little Havana has curated a delicious five-course menu with a welcome cocktail on arrival for only R495 per person. Enjoy an amuse-bouche to get those taste buds tingling, then choose from a selection of starters like the deep-fried camembert with caramelised nectarine, mixed greens with a balsamic and olive oil dressing, followed by a palette cleanser. Options for mains include slow-roast pork belly, beef fillet or Norwegian salmon among others, and for dessert, you can indulge in a red velvet cake with rooibos crème brûlée, or orange and jalapeño salsa with a lemon sorbet to share.

Bel Punto (Umdloti)

Bel Punto have truly gone out of their way to cater for everyone this Valentine’s Day by offering up tw0 different menus according to your budget. If you’re looking to splurge, choose their “Shellfish Extravaganza” menu for R1,100 per person that includes options like six fresh oysters for starters, a grilled shellfish platter for mains and amaretto panna cotta for dessert. If you aren’t into shellfish, choose their other set menu for R590 per person, which includes marinated sliced beef fillet grilled with chilli, garlic, white wine and Italian tomato for starters, mushroom risotto for mains, and homemade tiramisu for dessert.

9th Avenue Waterside (The Harbour)

9th Avenue have truly gone all out this year to celebrate the day of love. For R2,000 per couple, you will be serenaded by an ensemble from the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra while feasting on a shared eight-course tasting menu with your loved one. This also includes a welcome drink on arrival. Some items on the menu include Knysna Bay oysters, trio of free-range duck and grilled crayfish, all artfully plated to perfection. This truly will be a memorable evening you won’t forget. A R1,000 deposit is required to secure your spot and bookings are essential.
