Food
Going to tashas is always such a treat, not just because the food is good but because the service matches the great brand they’ve upheld for years and years. They serve a great variety of delicious bistro-type food. If you’re a healthy eater, you’re in for a treat. Popular favourites include the Dr Paw Paw – paw paw with yoghurt, chopped almonds and honey. Although it sounds like a breakfast dish, I’ve seen people order it at different hours of the day. Another hit is the fantastic Citrus Surprise, with citrus fruit, banana, oat crumble, honey yoghurt, pistachio nuts with rose water. If you’re in need of something more substantial, the creamy pesto pasta with chicken, button mushrooms, sundried tomatoes, pesto, cream, basil and white wine is bound to satisfy. There are also a fantastic selections of salads, like the quinoa beetroot, which has pickled beetroot, quinoa, hazelnuts, feta, grilled onion, baby spinach, chives, sumac and pomegranate. On a balmy Jozi day, you could do worse than ordering something light like the salmon tartare, served with avocado chopped chilli, coriander, onions, lime and, for a nice crispy contrast in texture, melba toast. The food here is consistently good and everything that comes out of the kitchen looks mouthwateringly delicious.

Drinks
They offer an impressive, wide variety of coffees, including delicious blends like the Espresso Nutella shot, Lindt mocha latte and a spicy coconut chai latte. The wine list features delicious Prosecco from Italy and lovely cocktails, the Turkish Delight being a favourite.

Service
There is a sense of urgency about the service – even though you might get there to find the restaurant full, you’ll rarely wait more than 15 minutes for a table. Their turnaround is really good, yet the diner never feels rushed; you’re free to enjoy your meal at leisure.

Ambience
There’s always a great vibe and energy at this stylish spot.

And…
They keep things interesting by regularly exploring new dishes; every Tashas has something unique about their particular menu.
