Store description

“We roast our beans in small quantities, to ensure we get the heat just right,” says Beans About Coffee owner Thomas Jamneck, a man who knows a thing or two about the subject. Despite his small chain of roasteries expanding across the country, there’s an artisan feel to the small roastery where you can grab a barstool for a quick espresso or buy a bag of beans to take home. He’ll even grind them for you too.
Smart shopper tip: You’ll find both single-origin and blended beans available, with organic beans in the pipeline too.

I like my coffee shop to be about the coffee - these guys are pretty focussed on that and do a fantastic job. They are without a doubt the best cup of coffee in the small town of Riebeek Kasteel and possibly for at least 100km in any direction. They roast daily and have a wide range of beans for sale in the shop - ground or in bean format. The owners are onsite at all times and it really makes a difference. They have a small food menu, which is very passable and in most cases delicious. Their breakfasts are good value and if you have time for the "breakfast nest" (30 min waiting time according to the menu) then go for it...you will be happy. They run a chalk board menu with specials, and again, while small and without too many options you are almost guaranteed a decent meal. My only negative comment - the fruit juices are delish and made fresh but unfortunately rather pricey for what you get. Tip - if you get in before 8am (they open at 7am) you can get two coffees for under R30. They are closed on Tuesdays...good luck finding a decent coffee in town then!
