Open to the public, this café has wonderful views of Table Mountain and Lion’s Head. It’s airy, comfortable, and twice a day you can hear the piano being played. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the head chef overseeing the kosher kitchen is fully qualified. The café serves mostly vegetarian food, apart from a few items like smoked salmon bagels. For breakfast there are the usual options (without the bacon, of course) like muesli, yoghurt and stewed-fruit compote, omelettes, or eggs with tomato and toast. Sandwiches, salads, baked potatoes, soups, quiches and daily pasta specials make up the rest of the light meals offered. While Coffee Time caters for private functions, booking is essential.
